Applying To New Schools

As a student applying to a new school I know it is hard finding a school that you like since you don’t know the school very well. If you plan on applying to CNG this are some of the thing you will find that you may like.

The music program consists of students who play instruments outside of school, improve his o her skills by a series of different exercises and from hearing the songs they wish to play recreate the song in their own way. Recreating the songs helps them improve their improvisation and hearing skills. It is not easy playing a song just by listening to it. The program includes guitar, base, drum set, piano, and bongos.


Binationals is a sport tournament where athletic teams from American schools around Colombia play against each other. These schools make part of a chain of schools called SACS. In this tournament you find sports such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and tennis.
Uncoli stand for Union de Colegios Internacionales which means it’s a union of schools around Bogota, Colombia that are based on countries around the world such as Germany, U.S.A, Colombia, England and many others. This is almost like the binational games including the same sports but it’s only in Bogota. In the male category the finals are usually CNG vs. San Carlos which is the strongest competitor from all the other schools. In the female category the finals are usually CNG vs. Santa Maria.
CCW stand for Classroom Without Walls. This is a program created by the school which includes fieldtrips around Colombia. In these trips student perform a series of activities witch challenge them to take risks and overpass their fears.
Each student is given a house to which they belong to as long as they are in school. There are 4 different houses. Falcon who’s color is green, eagles are yellow, hawks are red and ospreys are orange. During the school year each house chooses 2 representatives 2 vice captains and 2 captains. They also participate in athletic activities and some that involve which house has the most spirit like the cheers competition.
The Hogar is a school that was built by the CNG so students who have fewer opportunities that student at CNG could get an education and make something of their lives. Student from CNG interact with the Hogar student in different activities along the year and helping them perfect their English skills.
In high school student are required to perform up to 80 hours of social service to graduate. These activities are done at school after classes. Student form the alianza schools come to CNG and student interact with them. Its almost the same thing as the Hogar but with student from the alianza schools.
Since CNG is an American school we celebrate the American holyday known as Thanksgiving. 2 days before the holyday student celebrate with different activities with younger students. We build up baskets full of goods and make thank you card for the workers from school. Then for 2 days student don’t have school giving them 4 days including the weekend to rest.
